God’s Solution

Posted by Yong Joo Park on 8 September 2019 in Exodus, Genesis, John, Luke, Mark, Matthew, Revelation |

When Pharaoh gave order to kill every newly born Hebrew boy (Exodus 1:22), people could wonder why God would not rescue them right away. As shown in Exodus 2:1-10, God already sent Moses as His solution in the midst of the problem. So, we need faith when we can see the problem but can’t see the solution. The solution is already there but we can’t see it yet because it may be still a baby, but God already prepared the solution. God may be waiting for us to pray enough as shown in Exodus 2:23-24.

23 During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. 24 God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. 25 So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.

God let Moses to perform ten plagues against Egypt and the 1st plague (Exodus 7) was the plague of blood. This plague reminds me of Revelation 16:3 – 7.

3 The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.

The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say:

‘You are just in these judgments, O Holy One,

you who are and who were;

for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets,

and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.’

And I heard the altar respond:

‘Yes, Lord God Almighty,

true and just are your judgments.’

So, the 1st plague in Exodus 7 reminds me of Pharaoh’s order in Exodus 1:22.

When the snake tempted the woman, and Adam and his wife disobeyed God’s command in Genesis 3, they were sentenced to lose eternal life and Eden Garden. In the midst of this mankind’s worst nightmare, on the very moment of God’s judgement, God promised the saviour for the mankind in Genesis 3:15. To understand the context, let’s read from  v14.

14 So the Lord God said to the snake, ‘Because you have done this,

‘Cursed are you above all livestock

and all wild animals!

You will crawl on your belly

and you will eat dust

all the days of your life.

15 And I will put enmity

between you and the woman,

and between your offspring and hers;

he will crush your head,

and you will strike his heel.’

In v15, hers, that is, her offspring (singular) is the saviour, who will crush the head of the snake (Satan). Striking his heel means the crucifixion that the saviour would suffer.

For each case in the above, the solution of God was ‘sending someone’.

Today someone might be born as the solution to a problem. You also might be born to solve a problem.

God works through someone who obeys Him.

Jesus fed 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish (Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:30-44, Luke 9:10-17, John 6:1-13). This shows God uses our faith and obedience even though He is almighty to do great things without them.

Exodus 1 – 17 Personally, I found Exodus particularly more interesting when I was reading books in the holy bible for the first time long time ago. I found myself kept reading more and more chapters in one seating even though my original plan was reading just a paragraph or a chapter. In Genesis, the […]

Genesis 25 – Genesis 50 Rebekah conceived fraternal twins (Genesis 25:12). God revealed their destinies as Rebekah enquired of the LORD (“…the elder (Esau) will serve the younger (Jacob)…”) (Genesis 25:22-23). Jacob means ‘supplanter’. Jacob received Isaac’s blessing instead of Esau (Genesis 27:1-40). Jacob was sent away to the house of Rebekah’s brother, Laban, fleeing […]

Genesis 39-41 Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there (Genesis 39:1). The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. […]

Genesis 37:1-36 Jacob had 12 sons. The 11th son, Joseph, 17 years old, was tending the flocks with his brothers, and he brought their father a bad report about them (2). Now Israel (=Jacob) loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, and he made an ornate robe for him (3). Because Jacob loved […]
